The Chinese started wearing polish as early as 3000 B.C., with the colors reflecting one’s social status (red for upper classes and nudes for common folk). In 1932, Revlon introduced their first nail color, inspired by automobile paint. With the advent of Technicolor, Rita Hayworth made red nails popular.
